Lanzhou Institute of Technology Alloy Powder Co., Ltd. was founded in May 1992. In 2002, it was renamed Lanzhou Institute of Technology Alloy Powder Factory with Gansu University of Technology. In 2010, it was restructured as a limited liability company. In 2019, in accordance with relevant documents from the provincial party committee and government, it was placed under the overall management of Gansu Electric Equipment Group Co., Ltd. and is now a subsidiary of Gansu Electric Equipment Group Co., Ltd. The company has a powder production workshop and a surface engineering workshop, mainly engaged in the research and development, manufacturing, and sales of nickel based, cobalt based, iron-based and other alloy powders, as well as additive manufacturing and remanufacturing business.

The company is the largest specialized additive manufacturing and remanufacturing technology application high-tech enterprise in the northwest region, integrating nickel cobalt alloy powder production, thermal spraying, surfacing processing, and technical consulting. It is also the only enterprise in China that researches and produces high-performance rare earth wear-resistant series alloys, water turbine blade anti cavitation surface strengthening powders, and iron nickel based amorphous alloy powders. The products are mainly used for surface strengthening of wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and high-temperature resistant components in industries such as petrochemicals, automobiles, mining, power stations, valves, metallurgy, etc.
