Tianshui Electric Drive Research Institute Group Co., Ltd. (formerly Tianshui Electric Drive Research Institute, renamed Tianshui Electric Drive Research Institute Co., Ltd. in 2008 and adopted its current name in August 2019) was founded in 1970. It was established by relocating the former Tianjin Electric Drive Design Institute of the First Ministry of Machine Building to Tianshui. After nearly 50 years of development, it has become a major research, development, and production base in my country's electric drive and automation fields.
The company is the core enterprise of the Gansu Electric Equipment Group's electric drive and automation industry cluster and the group's primary scientific and technological support force. It is a national key high-tech enterprise controlled by Lanzhou Great Wall Electric Co., Ltd. Currently, the company boasts six national-level scientific research and innovation platforms: the State Key Laboratory of Large-Scale Electric Drive System and Equipment Technology, the National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Large-Scale Electric Drive and Automation Equipment Manufacturing Technology, the National Enterprise Technology Center, the National Industrial Design Center, the National Technology Innovation Demonstration Enterprise, and the National Green Factory; one postdoctoral research workstation for a national key laboratory; and eleven provincial-level scientific research and innovation platforms, including the Gansu Enterprise Technology Center and the Gansu International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Oil Drilling Rig Electric Drive System Technology. The company consistently prioritizes the research and development of fundamental and common applied technologies, engaging in extensive technical collaboration and exchange with partners both domestically and internationally, continuously updating its technology and improving its capabilities to keep pace with the world's most advanced technologies. The company maintains long-term technical exchanges and collaborations with renowned international companies such as Siemens, ABB, and GE, and maintains close technical ties and long-term collaborations with research institutes and universities such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, and Xi'an Jiaotong University.
The company currently has 404 employees, including eight professor-level senior engineers, 42 senior engineers, 134 technical personnel with intermediate professional titles, two national experts, two leading talents in Gansu Province, 12 provincial professional leaders, and eight innovation teams. The company is the designated authority for electric drive technology for oil drilling rigs in my country. It is responsible for drafting national and industry standards for electric control systems for oil drilling and production equipment, developing industry development plans, and guiding technological upgrades. The company edits and publishes the scientific journal "Electrical Drive Automation," which is distributed simultaneously domestically and internationally.
Over the years, the company has developed and manufactured over 1,000 high-tech electric drive and automation products for the petroleum, metallurgy, coal, power, and accelerator industries, winning nearly 100 provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological achievement awards. Its products are distributed nationwide and sold in over 40 countries and regions, forging a successful path of scientific research-based industrialization and making outstanding contributions to the application, development, and promotion of complete sets of electric drive and automation equipment and automation technologies in my country.
